Prof. Sachchida Nand Tripathi
Has been appointed as the Inaugural (First) Dean of the School.
Dr. Sachchida Nand Tripathi is a Higher Administrative Grade (Senior) Professor of Civil Engineering at IIT Kanpur and also a core faculty at the department of Sustainable Energy Engineering (SEE), IIT Kanpur.
Under the leadership of Prof. Tripathi, Center of Excellence for Advanced Technologies for Monitoring Air Quality Indicators (CoE - ATMAN) - instituted by the Principal Scientific Advisors' office - has developed a novel low-cost approach to source apportionment. CoE- ATMAN, with Prof. Tripathi as the principal investigator, focuses on building indigenous low-cost sensor manufacturing and Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning capabilities within the country to help with the goal of improving the air quality in all the urban and rural cities/towns and villages of India. Prof. Tripathi and his team, are currently working on an ambitious project, involving fabrication of indigenous sensors for measuring PM2.5. The team is also looking forward to create intelligent solutions for managing air quality, middleware for municipal functions, efficient energy systems and sustainable mobility at city level.
Prof. Tripathi is the recipient of Infosys Prize 2023 in Engineering and Computer Science, Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Award and the J C Bose National Fellowship. He holds the Sir M. Visvesvaraya Chair at IIT Kanpur. He is an elected fellow of the Indian National Science Academy (INSA), Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and National Academy of Sciences of India (NASI), and recipient of the Distinguished Alumnus award of Banaras Hindu University. He is also the Coordinator of the National Knowledge Network (NKN), formed under the National Clean Air Program and an expert member of Steering Committee and Monitoring Committee, National Clean Air Program. Prof. Tripathi is the coordinator of National Aerosol Facility (NAF) and CoE-ATMAN at IIT Kanpur and also the Chief Project Manager of AI-CoE. Prof. Tripathi has supervised 18 Ph.D. thesis and 34 M. Tech thesis. He has been author or co-author of more than 200 publications.
